Why consider therapy?
If you have had a significant loss, therapy can help you grieve your loss, let go, move forward with your life, and feel happiness again.
If you are experiencing depression, therapy can help you to cope with it, change negative patterns of thinking that contribute to it, and enable you to enjoy life.
If you are experiencing anxiety, therapy can help you to manage it, change mistaken thoughts and beliefs that exacerbate it, and help you to be able to more comfortably do things that seem difficult or impossible right now.
If you lack self-confidence, therapy can help you to discover your strengths and positive qualities, to believe in yourself, and to experience success.
If you have had a difficult life experience (or perhaps a number of them), therapy can help you to not define yourself in terms of your past, but rather to heal, become stronger, and choose your own future.
Choose therapy with Elm Park Counselling and Consultation – you deserve it!
Parent Coaching
Parent coaching supports parents in meeting their children’s needs related to emotional well-being, security and predictability, the development of responsibility, and a sense of competence and mastery.
Coaching is provided by a therapist with over 20 years of experience working with children and parents in both school and private practice settings.

Why consider therapy?
Parenting is wonderful, but it is also the most difficult job there is. There are times for every parent, when they are just not sure how to handle their child’s current behaviors; how to support them through their current struggles; or how to ensure that they will grow up to be responsible, competent (and happy) adults.
Sometimes, all that is needed is a little reassurance that you are on the right track, plus a little “tweak” or two.
Sometimes, it is helpful to have someone to “bounce things off of” for a longer period of time, especially if your child is struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning disabilities, low self-esteem, etc. In addition to getting help for your child, it can be very helpful for you to have someone to talk to about how to support your child.
Consider parent coaching with Elm Park Counselling and Consultation – you and your child will both feel better for it!

According to the Mental Health Commission of Canada, an estimated 15 per cent of children and youth are affected by a mental health problem at any given time.
- Half of all diagnosable mental health issues begin by age 14 and
- 75% begin by age 24.
- Some anxiety disorders have an average onset of age 11.
- Anyone who has regular contact with youth will inevitably interact with some who are developing mental health problems.
